Contact: Joel, Chili Chairperson    chili.sailfest@gmail.com

The Chili Cook-Off is a culinary event where attendees can sample a variety of chili dishes.

It's organized as a fundraiser for Sailfest, offering a chance to savor excellent

homemade chili.

  • TEAMS

    • Enter in teams of 1-3 members.

    • Provide a catchy name for your chili, for table place cards and the voting ballot.

    • The Chile Cook-off Chairperson will contact you two days ahead of the event to confirm your participation. If you are unable to attend, please advise the Chili Chairperson early so arrangements can be made for another participant.

  • VENUE

    • Chili cookoff is at the pier. The event starts at 1pm, you will need to be there earlier to set up your table

    • Check in with the Chili Chairperson to get your table location.

    • Tables are usually 8 feet and are shared by two teams. If you require extra space, please let the chairperson know.

    •  Each table is provided with a tablecloth, but you can supply your own to go with your theme.

    •  Hotplates or electricity is NOT available, but keeping the chili hot, if it is in a good container has never been a problem. Let the chairperson know if you need pots, aluminum half pans, chafing dish racks or a sterno.

    • We will provide a 2-ounce serving ladle, serving cups, tasting spoons and paper napkins

    •  Shade is provided and will be set up by Sailfest Volunteers

    •  A volunteer runner will be available to get drinks or help participants during the tasting period.
you can provide cornbread, extra condiments, and tequila if you desire, but the judging is on the chili alone

  • CHILI

    •  Chefs prepare their chili at home, transport it to the event and serve to attendees.

    •  Prepare a minimum of 2 gallons of Chili (but as we usually run out, 3 - 4 gals would be preferred)

    •  Vegan chilis are welcomed

    •  Tasting cups are larger so they are not too hot to hold, please do not fill them up as you will run out of chili.   Recommended portions of 2 oz to each customer

    •  Extras. You can provide cornbread, extra condiments, and tequila if you desire, but the judging is on the chili   alone

  • JUDGING

    • There are no official Judges this year. Judging who has the best tasting chili will be done by the people.  To win votes think about :   Presentation, Aroma, Texture, Taste, and After-taste.

    • Prizes are awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners.

Thank you for participating.

Have a great day and let's raise a bunch of money for the kids.
